Viridian's Tavis Dockwiller speaks to Mike Weilbacher, Executive Director of the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, on Healing Landscapes in a Pandemic
Like so many small businesses, Roxborough’s Tavis Dockwiller is struggling to keep her company moving forward and her people employed. A hugely talented landscape architect, she is the founder and principal of Viridian Landscape Studio, housed on Terrace Street not far from the Spicy Belly restaurant (which she recommends). You’ve likely seen Viridian’s work-- maybe the Schuylkill Center’s still-new entrance on the Schuylkill River Trail, or the Philadelphia Zoo's children’s zoo, among many others.

Not everyone was talking about that at the time.” She adds, “In our conceptual design, we had to consider how we could do more than clean the site up… how we could make it a demonstration site that the kids would change over time.”

Featured in PlanPhilly.com
Viridian is honored to have been a part of continuing Ed Bacon’s legacy by being entrusted to develop the 2017 Open Space Master Plan of the future for the historic Society Hill Neighborhood in Philadelphia. With their eyes on the future and hearts committed to historic preservation, the Society Hill Civic Association hired KSK Architects, Planners, Historians to produce a master plan with an emphasis on clearly defining the neighborhood’s assets and at-risk properties. Part of the planning effort, Viridian Landscape Studio was brought on board to identify ownership and maintenance responsibilities for the vital open space network that defines the cultural and historic fabric of the neighborhood. The inventory details the community’s open space assets and care requirements so that the integrity of these spaces are protected and enhanced through current and future planning efforts. The plan has been singled out for praise.
